Dangriga, Belize

Last Spring Break (2010) I visited a friend in Belize and spent about a week in the Town of Dangriga. The Town has about 12,000 people and is located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea in Belize’s Stann Creek district (wikipedia).

The thing that stuck me as most interesting was the amount of people who biked around the Town. Biking wasn’t reserved as a mode of transportation only for the green-minded types or the poor who have no other choice (as seemingly often the case in the USA). In Dangriga, everyday people were biking for the everyday commute, errands, and leisurely to ‘lime’ around Town.

The funniest scene was seeing young women, dolled up for nightlife, on their bicycles to the night’s hot club or block-party.
