Harvest City, Haiti

Harvest City, Haiti

Could a floating city (yes, floating as in floating on water) be the solution to rebuild earthquake ruined Haiti?

A manmade floating city called Harvest City, was recently proposed by an architect from Boston. The City would be able to hold up to 30,000 residents. Cables to the seabed would prevent the City’s islands from floating away.

The Huffington Post, Inhabitat, and The City Fix have stories and photos of Harvest City.

Off course the idea of a floating city is not new (here is a story on one for Maldives) and similar concepts have been realized in the past (floating islands of Lake Titicaca, or Tenochtitlan’s Chinampas), but this Harvest City is just plain asinine.
